London St. Pancras easily tops my list of favourite train stations in London. I never took the time to look at it before. I was usually flying through in a rush to get somewhere, but since starting my course at CSM at Granary Square, I’ve had lots of trips back and forth to take in the stunning architecture and energy of the area. I’ve also gotten lost quite a few times with all the different entrances and exits, but it’s often resulted with finding a gem like Source Market for good value coffee and snacks or shop I didn’t realise was in the station.
The station carries a frisson of excitement as the announcements alternate between English and French for Eurostar travelers. It’s a little snippet of holiday feeling and I love it. I always get the urge to throw caution to the wind and buy a ticket so I can wander arrondissements, eat soft brie on warm baguettes, browse the left bank and…
Then reality bites and I realise that I’m daydreaming and probably running late for something!!
So my tips, check out Hogwart’s platform 9 3/4 in the nearby tube station, buy gorgeous tea and coffee at Fortum and Mason, tucked away by the departure gates, or venture upstairs to take in the longest champagne bar in Europe. There’s also some cracking big statues to gaze up at.
Just be careful that you don’t miss your train!
