Tea and crumpets, Yorkshire puddings, Cumbrian sausages, roasties, strawberries and cream-the UK has some things down food wise! Now, while I do hold all of the above close to my heart, none of them get near to my fondness for a good ol’ tasty English pie! In my book, pie and mash sit on the top of the pile of all things delicious and my friend (and real Londoner) revealed a find of a shop during lunch today.
Cockneys of Croydon does exactly what it says on the tin-authentic, straight up hearty fare. It made for a nice change from the supermarket salad bar or pre-packaged sandwiches that make up my usual lunch routine. I’ll most definitely be back! Oh and I’ll have to dedicate a whole other post in honour of pasties because I have a little love affair going on with them too. I now know how to pronounce them correctly too thanks to my brother in law, a native Devonian!
