A bit of a detour on my way back from the supermarket yesterday meant that I stopped by two great local shops and saw some great street art and architecture along the way. I love living in north London and just when I think I’ve got to grips with where I live, I find something new. What could be better?
If you’re after a unique gift or a new piece of statement furniture, look no further than Gathering Moss. The wood in the custom made pieces is often more than 100 years old and is reclaimed from warehouses, old buildings or churches for a unique feel. There’s also a great selection of antiques, greetings cards and curiosities, so make sure that you leave enough time to browse.
This bookshop in Highbury is such a find. Actually, it’s more than a bookshop, it’s a also a cafe and event space where you can enjoy a wide range of tea and coffee, craft beers or wine depending on when you stop by. Why not sign up to a writing workshop if you’re looking to get in touch with your creative side, or book the venue for a special gathering ? This independent store loves books, words and creativity and this oozes out of the place.
Street art is a love of mine and anytime I walk around Finsbury Park, Stoke Newington or Stroud Green, a new piece has appeared. Here were a few of my highlights, from art, to buildings to beautiful trees.
