Go glamping!
One of the nicest jobs I’ve ever had was planning my best friend Niamh’s hen party with her sister Aoife and other lovely bridesmaid Carrie. June finally arrived and one very excited hen and 17 chicks headed to Teapot Lane Glamping in County Leitrim, Ireland.
We had an absolute blast! Some in our group, seasoned festival goers and camping pros were more than pleasantly surprised when we drove into the gorgeous camp nestled amongst the beautiful Irish countryside.
This isn’t your usual campsite. A luxury tree-house with fridge, sink and its own wood burning stove sits amongst woodland. Myself and five of the girls stayed in a cottage kitted out with full kitchen, sitting-room, double bathroom and very, very comfy beds. The rest of our gang split amongst the luxury yurts all adorned with bunting, animal skins, candles and stoves. Yes, I mentioned before that this isn’t your usual campsite experience!
We went for a great package which covered the cost of booking out the entire camp for two nights, a surf lesson and catered BBQ and DJ set. We had a fantastic time at our surf lesson in the nearby seaside town of Bundoran, Donegal but our muscles definitely paid for it after! For those ladies in our group who wanted to be pampered, massage treatments were on offer on site. Derval, the camp owner, is also a trained therapist did all treatments. The girls looked beyond relaxed when we got back to camp. The perfect option for anyone wanting a really chilled break.
The food was top-class and a lot more than the advertised BBQ on the website. We feasted on lamb tagine, salmon cooked in lemon, garlic and rosemary, meatballs, burgers, spicy chicken skewers and salads foraged from the nearby woodland and gardens and finished up with cupcakes.
We even made it into Bundoran on the Saturday night and the live band in The Chasin Bull was great, not to mention some serious tearing it dancing in Paris nightclub after.
I did mention it was a hen party didn’t I? The games, laughter, prosecco and madness most definitely took place but as they say, ‘what happens on tour, stays on tour’.
