I’ve been looking forward to today all week! It was the chance to spend time with one of my best friend’s in the whole word, Des. We were housemates for over two years in London and friends since our teens in Dublin. Now that we live on opposite sides of the city, we LOVE the chance to get together for a natter and some food. It’s a running joke between us about how many times we’ve missed our tube stop because of talking so much! Des also has the most infectious laugh of anyone I know and the best way of telling a story, so you can see why I was so excited to meet up. He’s an amazing friend and time with him now is literally precious.
We chose to meet in Clerkenwell, an area of London that neither of us knew too well, which was perfect as we really enjoy seeing new parts of the city together. A stones throw from Farringdon and Angel underground stations, Clerkenwell is full of hidden gems when it comes to independent coffee houses and restaurants. I’m actually shocked that it’s taken us this long to find it!
A good friend of mine recommended that we try the Moroccan restaurant Moro, which sits right in the middle of Exmouth Market. I absolutely loved the laid-back village atmosphere of the streets in the area and in summer, I can just imagine it’s the perfect place to sit outside and relax over a meal. When it came to the food today, myself and Des both ordered charcoal grilled brill with tamarind and prawns, chickpeas and spinach, it was really light and tasty.
After, to satisfy our sweet tooth, we took a wander and and stumbled across Workshop Coffee a short walk from Moro. It was such a nice space and we ordered a pot of filter coffee sourced from Rwanda, a delicious chocolate doughnut and bircher muesli with mango. Workshop Coffee also offers brewing masterclasses in its Holborn chain. This brand is a real mecca for coffee lovers. I’d really like to try out a class sometime being a huge fan of coffee!
A fab day, the food was lovely but the company was definitely the best part!
