PHATbreads

12th August 2015 by emily

I love that the owner of PHATbreads bought her oven on Ebay! Now that’s taking impulse online shopping to a whole other level. It just goes to show what happens when entrepreneurial spirit meets the click of a mouse!

The gold mosaic tiles and clean white finish give the oven an updated funky twist. The girls who make the delicious flatbreads have the personalities to match. Their stall at Ropewalk, Maltby Street Market in Bermondsey was bustling with a growing line as I joined it and they kept their cool and humour, working in tandem to pull breads in and out of the heat at lightening speed. A well oiled operation!

I went for a bread with goats cheese, beetroot, pumpkin seeds and rocket. It was devine. The fact that the sun was splitting the stones made things all the better. Myself and a group of friends sat catching rays and sipping refreshing cocktails for hours on the edge of a kerb. For me, Ropewalk has the quality produce to equal Borough, without the throngs of people. Yes, there is a serious lack of outside seating space at Ropewalk but it’s all part of the charm!

Quick, check these girls out before they join the market big leagues and you spend most of your afternoon in a queue to get to them!
