Think Big

8th January 2016 by emily

For last year’s words belong to last year’s language
And next year’s words await another voice”. ― T.S Eliot, Four Quartet

I’m a big fan of New Year and the feeling of looking ahead and making plans. What I’m not a big fan of is over ambitious resolutions that cause stress and dreaded guilt rather than joy. At this time of year, I begin to look ahead with glee as the year stretches out ahead and I start to add really important dates and fun things to the calendar.

So what’s on my radar over the next few months? Well, the first big event is the Göteborg half marathon with over 62,000 runners taking part. This is so exciting as I’ve always wanted to visit Sweden and it will put two things in motion, training which always makes me feel good and a lot of Google searches to see what we can explore there before and after the race! I love travel and I can’t wait to see this city, a new culture and just think of the shopping?!

The second great thing on the horizon for 2016 is a trip to Verona, Italy to celebrate my parent’s 40th wedding anniversary. What a fantastic milestone to have reached as a couple and my Mom and Dad are the perfect example of peas in a pod! They’ve always championed each other (and our whole family) and the chance to spend a long weekend in a beautiful city sounds bliss!

Closer to home, I’ve a few exhibitions on my list for this year, Vogue 100 – Century of Style at the National Portrait Gallery and will feature 280 prints from the Vogue archive and runs February 11th – May 22nd , Annie Lebowitz’s exhibition Women, which is to be shown in 10 cities during a period of 12 months, beginning in London at Wapping Hydraulic Power Station. I also want to stop by the Tate Britain to look at Francis Bacon’s work which is mesmerizing and disturbing at the same time.

These are some of the things that I’m looking forward to over the next few months. What about you?
